Pink staff raise £5k for breast cancer charity

Pink staff raise £5k for breast cancer charityStaff at many Gibbs and Dandy branches took part in the national "Wear it Pink" day to raise money for breast cancer research on Friday 24th October 2008. This annual Gibbs and Dandy fund-raising event was preceded by a sponsored cycle ride and walk at Stewartby lake organised by Bedford branch and a sponsored slim by ladies at Head Office in Luton.

On the day, many staff wore pink clothes and wigs. Some branches held raffles and auctions, cake sales, buffets, quizzes and competitions to raise cash. Football shirts from Jermaine Defoe (Portsmouth) and Kingsley Black (ex Luton Town) were auctioned and Dave Bunce at Slough had his legs waxed. The team at Market Harborough made a special effort, baking cakes all week and featuring in the local newspaper.

The total raised was an incredible £5,000, which has been donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign. Thank you to everyone who took part, and to our fantastic customers and suppliers for the generous contributions made.
