Wearing it Pink for Charity

Group photo

Staff from around many of the Gibbs and Dandy branches took part in raising money for breast cancer research on Friday 26th October 2007.

Many staff wore pink items of clothing, some more daring than others! Gibbs and Dandy also produced a "cheeky" calendar, featuring brave members of Gibbs and Dandy staff. Calendars were sold on the day for £5. Some branches held raffles and auctions, cake sales, buffets, quizes and competitions to raise cash. Contributions are still be counted, but we hope to raise more than last year which bought in £3000 for the charity.

Thank you to everyone who took part, and for the generous contributions made.

Roundabout sponsorship

A6 RA Sponsorship

Luton Borough Council offered Gibbs and Dandy the opportunity to help improve one of the town's busiest roundabouts situated at the junction of New Bedford Road and Barnfield Avenue.

Gibbs and Dandy donated building materials and Marshalls paving to redevelop the roundabout which was inspired by the winning design of an Excellence in Luton school competition, which was won by Charlotte Metherell.

Amanda Evans, Marketing Executive for Gibbs and Dandy PLC, said “This was an excellent opportunity to work in partnership with the local council to benefit the community and at the same time support the school project. We were pleased to be able to support both scheme’s and provide the council with the building materials they required to make the re-development happen”

Amanda Hunt, Sponsorship and Advertising Officer at Luton Borough Council, said “It is always a pleasure to see local businesses wishing to support improvements to the borough and on behalf of both the council and community would like to thank Gibbs and Dandy for their involvement”.

WORKING HARD AND PLAYING HARD

Luton based Gibbs and Dandy’s Mike Garrand joined local volunteers working for Romanian Relief to help bring a bit of fun into the lives of a few Romanian orphan children by spending five days turning a muddy field into a fun play ground area at a “Safe House” for abandoned children in Tinka, Romania.

Gibbs and Dandy donated coloured decorative chippings, sand for a sand pit, and vibrant floor paint to create colourful play areas for the children to enjoy.

Seeing how much they achieved in just five days, the team are keen to continue to raise awareness and further funding for more Safe Houses to be set up in Romania. The Safe House in Tinka requires £3,000 sponsorship per month in order to stay open and provide vital services for neglected children. If you would like to help Romanian Relief, you can sponsor a child from £10 per month, or any other donations will be gratefully received. Please contact Vanessa Nelson on 01582 495448 / 01582 618424 if you would like to find out more, or visit www.romanianrelief.org.
