Success at the double for Gibbs & Dandy at prestigious industry awards

Gibbs & Dandy is celebrating after a double triumph at the Builder’s Merchants Awards for Excellence.

At a glittering awards ceremony taking place at the Hilton Hotel on Pak Lane in London, Neil Lawrence, our Managing Director, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his major contribution to and achievements within the construction industry, during a career spanning forty years.

Alongside an impressive record of commercial success, the awards panel also recognised Neil’s track record and passion for people development, manifesting itself through various staff and customer initiatives and educational programmes.

This includes the recently launched Entrepreneurship Foundation, a scheme providing free training and support for tradespeople to assist them in running a small business.  Following on from Neil’s personal achievement, Gibbs & Dandy made it a double delight on the day as the company clinched the National Builders’ Merchant of the Year accolade.

The judging panel commended Gibb & Dandy’s successful approach to customer engagement, people development and health and safety, underpinned by a record financial performance as part of the reasons for awarding the National Builders’ Merchant of the Year title to the Coventry based company.

Neil Lawrence said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to have Gibbs & Dandy recognised as the National Builder’s Merchant of the Year and well done to everyone in the company for their collective efforts in enabling us to clinch this award.

“I am also personally honoured to receive the Lifetime Achievement award, as it’s always very humbling to receive the recognition of your peers for doing what is essentially a job I love and enjoy.
“It’s been a very fulfilling career, and long may it continue as there is still plenty to be achieved for the future.”

The Builder’s Excellence Awards are prestigious awards that recognise best practice and achievement across the industry.

More than 750 industry professionals attended the awards ceremony, hosted by Sir Lenny Henry CBE, for a celebration of the best of the builders’ merchants’ sector.
