Gibbs & Dandy Handy News

At Gibbs & Dandy, we like to get involved with our local communities. Here you can find out what we've been up to outside the branch, as well as interesting offers, promotions and upcoming events.

Stevenage Fire ServiceStevenage's Service is on Fire!

Gibbs & Dandy Stevenage has recently teamed up with the team at the Stevenage Fire Station, building a partnership that has great benefits for the branch, the service, and the local community.

The fire station was looking for materials to use for fire behaviour training, which the branch was able to fulfil through broken pallets and crates that would otherwise have gone to waste. Better yet, we are hoping to be able to host the training onsite after hours, to give the department more space to teach people the potentially life saving courses.

To thank the branch, the service has offered the branch some fire training of their own, helping the team in Stevenage to offer their customers the safest possible environment to shop in.

Really great work, team!

On Your Bikes!

As part of our EHS day on the 13th October, our teams around our branches got together to raise funds and awareness for health, safety and mental wellbeing. One of the activities to raise money was an inter-branch bike ride. Colleagues from 3 of our branches in West Yorkshire got geared up, hopped on their bikes and rode from our Leeds Elland Road branch, on to Pudsey branch then off to our Huddersfield branch and back to Pudsey.

Quite a trek! The team cycling was led by Pudsey Branch Director Nik Beedham, with Tim Charlton, Nick Davies, Paul Hawksworth, Mickey Benn and Jason Cadogan all tackling the elements.

This eye-watering 40-mile route was completed in aid of two charities:

Martin House, a charity whose aim is to provide family-led care for children with life-shortening conditions - Donate to Martin House

The Christie, experts in cancer care, research and education - Donate to The Christie
